Post by wazzzzzzzzup »

Motorola Made the MAXTRAC LS LTR trunking mobile. i know they made this for 800Mhz LTR, but did they also make any for UHF 450 LTR?

Another question is:
Does re-initializing the logic board and swapping the conventional firmware EPROM with an LS firmware EPROM allow someone to turn a UHF or VHF radio into an LTR radio? :)

johnathan,

doing a search on google
a company has done something like that already,
IDA Corporation/ Scholer-Johnson LTR conversion for motorola Maxtrac Series mobiles

looks to be an eeprom(S) swap and a different programming setup.

http://www.idaco.com/Cvt2.pdf

if it was reasonable enough, i might consider buying a UHF 2 channel maxtrac to expierement with..

anybody have any expierence with this kind of conversion?

I haven't converted a Maxtrac but have used the Scholer-Johnson LTR/ Passport board in an M1225 with great success.

when you put thier board into your radio, do you need a special version of thier software to program it thru the mic connector, or must you program the board itself somehow?

i have also been looking for prices on this conversion kit for a maxtrac without success, any idea what your kit cost for your radio?

I wish I could say the same for the SM50s we converted to LTR trunking a couple years back

I would say yes, using the Maxtrac-LS RSS to do the initialization.

I think that was aimed towards me,

You enable the new option board through the radio CPS, add as many modes or channels you plan to use and then run the software that came with the option boards to configure the boards for Conventional, LTR and Passport. Even though you add or enable the modes or channels in the M1225 CPS, all configuration is done in the option boards. Almost the same idea as configuring a CDM on a passport system.

ill ask another question...

in the maxtrac LS programming software, does it give you the option of 400MHZ or just 800Mhz?
