Has anyone here dealt with Carolina Radio out of Las Vegas? His ebay name is motosales, and he has a 99.0% feedback rating.
I bought several items from him last month (outside ebay, off the website)and paid via credit card. Most of my items came 2 weeks later and I did get everything I ordered except 2 antennas (UHF 5/8 wave and VHF 5/8 wave). I have tried contacting him by phone and email at [email protected] for the last month with no response, but he is around because he is selling on ebay.
Anyone else dealt with this guy?

I dealt with them in the late 1990s....
They used to specialize in aftermarket programming cables, before the chinese import cables started being imported. It appeared to be a guy and his wife.
They also used to sell their own rib-box. Compact unit, with a built in 9 volt battery compartment. They were really innovative, in that the Rib to PC cable had an RJ-45 connector and you were supplied with a DB-9 and DB-25 adapter.
The last time I bought a Rib from them, they were VERY slow to ship (2 weeks, if I remember). Then, the unit was DOA. Returned for repair, didn't get it back for nearly a month. However, they did not return the DB-9 or Db-25 adapters. So, I had a rib I could not connect to my computer. Numerous emails and phone calls WERE NOT ANSWERED.
Luckily, I found a friend who had the same rib; and I was able to pinout the connectors.
This rib died a fiery death, due to a faulty Spectra, about a year later. It was in Monty's collection of ribs, when he passed.

Late 90's here too, shipped quick and had no problems with his RIB and cables. At the time he still had an office in NC and NV and returned emails pretty quick. Other than that, I haven't delt with him and don't know who has.

I have had the same experience. Nice guy but very slow to ship. He does not answer e mails very quick.

Carl Robbins/Carolina Radio... thats a name I hadn't heard or seen in ages. As previously mentioned in the thread, he was very reliable and innovative with aftermarket cables in the late 90's and early 00's but he appeared to fall off radar and off the face of the earth.
Carl also had aftermarket batteries and on occasion would offer complete refurb kits.
I tried to look for his old aol hosted website, which was bookmaked on one of my old shop computers, but realized that it was stored on an old pentium II that I retired in 2002.
Good luck. Its a shame that someone who worked so hard to build a good business and reputation didn't bail out at the right time and is now blemishing what was then known as a reputable person/company to deal with.
