HT1250 Run over by a truck...Is it possible to repair it?

Hello,
I have an HT1250 that was run over by a 40000lbs truck. Is it posssible to repair it? The case suffered signifcant damage and I guess what you would call the chasis to the radio (the back end of the radio where the board is attached) is bent a little. The radio will power up when I hold the battery to it, and also the CPS does read the radio. I am able to pick up a weak signal, and transmit directly to another unit but it doesn't seem to hit the repeater. Can this radio be brought back to original working condition? or do I need to buy a new one?

if the main board did not suffer any damage, sure it is fixable..

I had a 3000 run over by a fire engine recently.
The case was good but when I opened it it was a write off

Anything can be repaired. The question is, how much money do you have?

It doesn't transmit or receive better I'd bet because the antenna is no longer properly connected to the board. A nearby radio will hear it though, until you fry the final doing that.

Yep, if you have enough $$$ you can get it fixed.

I would see what the insurance company has to say....see what your coverage is especially if it happened during a call.

The MT1000s could take this.

I had a 1250 run over by a type 3 ambulance. Case was in 3 pieces, broken antenna conector, and volume control. Replaced the case, antenna connector, and volume control, and it is back in service. $75 in parts.

These are stories for the next Motoconnect... uhh, like how that radio survived a grass fire. Maybe Motorola will even give you a brand spanking new radio if they use it.

If the board, volume/channel knobs,flex cables,speaker,display are ok, I would say get a REX-4660B refurb kit and a used casting. They are pretty easy to refurb. I refurbish these units quit often. The kit does not include the front ht-1250 label though.

Yeah well, there's a reason the Genesis radios are considered the second best HT ever made, after the first place MT500.

At a show I was at they had a pro series radio that had been in a fire.
The battery and the radio were now one and the channel knob was also now part of the case.
They just kept plugging it into a charger and demo'ing it I guess until the battery finally dies.
I did pick it up and tested it and yes it worked just fine (new antenna I'm sure) but the rest looked pretty burnt and it even had the proper smell rather than someone with a hot soldering iron making it.l

I have had a P200 and a Jedi take a fall from a pretty tall building onto concrete. They both worked after that, which really suprised me. However, my HT1250, I don't think would survive that kind of a drop. I get paranoid if it falls 2 feet from my belt onto grass!

Don't be afraid to punish your Pro radios, they do take a very good beating for not being encased completely in metal, like the aforementioned Genesis radios. Which by the way, were more expensive then than the Waris radios are now.
