I'm looking at "upgrading" to a UHF 403-470MHz portable. I'm looking at both the HT1250 and HT1550. As far as features go, I'd like as many channels as possible, but realistically I can deal with 128 or whatever these things top out at. I don't NEED LTR trunking, but it would sure be nice.
As far as I can tell, the only thing "extra" the 1550 can give me is FPP.
Is this true, or are there a lot more extras you gain with the 1550 over the 1250?
Thanks for your input!

- What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's
well the 1550 is 160 channels and will even do ltr along with those channels. if you get a ltr 1250 you will only have 18 conventional channels. the fpp is limited and not worth it in my opinion. and with 160 channels, i don't think you will need the fpp. the 1550 has built in voice recorder and can be used as an answering machine or on your pager channel or whatever you want to use it for. the 1550 has 3 extra lines of display that is nice to have. they both can only do 190 aliases and 4 mdc's. they can both encode and decode. the 1550 can have more than 16 channels in a zone because it has a continious knob. i guess bottom line is if you can afford the extra couple bucks for the 1550 you won't be disapointed. if you get a 1250 it's a possibility in a week you will wish you would of gotten a 1550? i carry a 1550 myself and have never had a problem with it. if i can think of any other differences i'll revise this later.
