Simple, "duh" question about prog. mobiles..

Simple, "duh" question about prog. mobiles..

When programming a mobile radio, does it have to have 12v power as if it was in the car, or does all it need is to be attached to the programming cable?

yup needs the 12v

This is an M1225 btw.

I'm not sure about the M1225's current requirement in receive, but you could use something as simple as a small 12v battery to a wall adapter, but that would only be good for receive and programming, don't transmit with that arrangement.

I used to have a 2 amp 13.8v wall adapter that i would use for powering HT's with battery eliminators for doing the same thing, then i finally put another 25amp power supply on the work bench for that.

i bought myself a power supply-converter. it was the easiest way to go.
