Have a Jedi Charger turn on a VRS unit?

Post by WB4JGI »

Is their a way to have a Jedi vehicular charger turn on a VRS unit when the portable is pulled out of the charger, and once the portable is re-inserted to the vehicular charger, turn the VRS back off?

If you mean a VRS from a Spectra/X9000, then i would say no.. That VRS is specific to those radios.

Ya I was talking about hooking up a vrs SP02 from a spectra into the jedi vehicular charger. I just wasn't sure if you could activate the vrs through the white lead out of the charger. Or maybe have the white lead go into the VIP port on the control head. I'm not sure, as I don't have the service manuals for any of these units.

I was snooping around in RSS and found that in the VIP input options menu that you can set one of the three inputs to VRS. I also went by the radio shop and looked at a spectra service manual and from what I gathered it looks like the 12volt white wire on the charger would go to a relay and from the relay, normally open side, to the VIP input pin on the back of the control head. Does this sound like it would work?
