I am about to migrate ~ 32 users from Nexhell to VZ wireless. We need to provide a solid handset that will hold up to daily use by our paramedics (they already carry HT1250).
While the coverage on Nextel rots, the i355 handsets seem to hold up pretty well.
Suggestions??
Which /\/\ phone for Verizon

If it weren't for the fact that they are discontinuing them, the e815 is an aweome phone. If you are going to do the Verizon PTT thing go with the KX444.
Both are pretty solid phones.
Both are pretty solid phones.

I just got a V325 and I like it alot so far. It does not do push to talk, but I don't need that. They don't have any ruggedized phone that I know of. The Razor is not a good choice because it does not receive very well. I have had verizon for 6 years and the have the best coverage for my area.

the E815 hands down has th best RF of any VZW phone. And it doesn't have their gay UI. Still has crippled bluetooth but that's VZ for ya. It is a fairly durable phone, nowhere near as rugged as an iDEN product.
The rest of the cheap Korean/Chinese phones they sell are trash and won't last in a public safety environment. The LG's are notably piss poor, I went through at least a dozen LG's (VX4400, VX6000, 9800...to name a few) and they all fall apart, screws fall out, and horrible RF.
Verizon's third world phone offering is why I shitcanned them. That and their arrogant attitude. (20 dollar ESN change fee, etc).
If you want a rugged no frills tri-mode aGPS, I've got one on ebay..
has about 20 hours left. no bids. that's about as close as you'll get to industrial grade for VZW. Clean ESN too...

Guys - this is pretty off topic. I won't lock the post, but I suggest looking over at http://www.howardforums.com for further advice. They have members who are a lot better with phone stuff.
This is more of a radio board... not a cell phone help board - though, I will say that there's a lot of people here who are very smart in fields above and beyond.
Please take it to PM's or off the board.
