Waris gasket colors?

Post by bellersley »

I was wondering. I've seen Waris radios with Orange, Black and Blue gaskets around the power pins on the back. Is there any signifigance to these colors, or just whatever was in stock?

I've seen the black gaskets on HTs that were 3 or 4 years old. Later models had the orange silicone rubber gaskets, essentially the same as the black ones except for the material, and the blue are the newest...they have three 'fingers' that sit under the battery contact fingers to provide additional support and vibration damping to help prevent radio rebooting when the contacts start to accumulate dirt/dust.

I recall someone here on EBay reported the blue gasket was part of the containment kit upgrade.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

the black ones are the original ones then they went to the orange ones and now they are blue, the blue ones also mean the radio has the contaminant upgrade done to it and it fixes the loss of power problem with the contacts.
