OK its not done still have to install the ant. and that has to wait till my next day off. This is a UHF MCX-1000 w/ DTMF mic. I am going to be installing a VHF soon remote mount kit under the AC controls. I will also be drilling two holes for the ant. on the roof. That is later this week. I will keep updating the pics as the work gets done.

Seems like it would get pretty hot in the NM sun on the dash.

Any reason why you didn't go with a remote mount for this radio? Just as long as you don't turn your ride into this you'll be ok.

:o WHAT IS HOLLY HELL COULD ANYONE NEED ALL THAT CRAP FOR? That ride is going to burn down to the ground I am sure with that mess of wires and whatever else there is....

As for the remote mount I will probable switch it some day. I do not have the remote mount kit. I think it would look better also. The other reason its on the dash is due to its size. I have a Ford Explorer sport so only two doors. The pass. side seat slides so you can get into the back so I did not want to mount it on the side of the center console for that reason. I am looking for a VHF MCX-1000 also and I want to run both on remote mounts and mount both heads under my AC controls they would look great there and size is perfict there also. So I am sure I will change the set up some day. One thing for sure it dam sure will not be a hamsexy install
