MTSX Radios with MDC

Post by compuman81 »

What's it take to decode MDC on a jedi? I know that since the MTS2000 radios are flashcode radios, they have an extra constraint.

Can a MT2000 A4/B5/B7 decode MDC? If so since what firmware revision? I need some history about the Jedi series.

How about the MTS2000. What flash option does it need to decode it if possible.

How about quik call 2 features?

I'll quickly answer one of the questions...the MT2000 cannot decode MDC, regardless of firmware version (that I'm aware of, at least).

Ok. So, i'm beginning to believe that there aren't any jedis that can decode MDC, I've always known a lot about the radios, but never considered MDC decode.

It depends on what you mean by "decode" MDC

Do you mean display the MDC ID, or decode packets for sel-call, check, and call alert?

Well I was talking about the ID Decode part of MDC 1200, however if anyone knows about the other parts of the protocol on mtsx platform, i'd be happy to know.

I kind of need to know if the H14 Flash option can actually toggle any options on a MTSX Radio.

This will be for a flash code decoder app.

The MTS2000 is the only Jedi which can decode MDC IDs, as well as respond to radio checks, etc.

I have an MTS2000 codeplug with a flashcode of 000008-104400-8, which decodes to:

Code: Select all

H38/G51 H38/G51 SmartZone Operation
Q181 Q181 StatAlert Operation (MDC1200)
H270/H738 H270/H738 MDC Status & Message
Q173/G173 Q173/G173 SmartZone OmniLink Operation
It's the Q181 option which you require for MDC encode/decode operation.

I have an MTS mod 1 with R06.76 Firm in it, and a flash of 010001-000000-8 which decodes to -

H101/G101/H169
Analog/Conventional Only Repeater Access(MDC1200/Singletone)
H35/G48 Conventional Operation

The radio encodes and decodes MDC ID with no problem, and it doesn't have the Q181 option. The H169 package also adds QCII.

Ah yes, I think I've been through this before. The 800MHz versions, which is all I've worked with, require the flash option. The VHF/UHF versions do MDC by default.

Thanks for your responses. Your input is very valuable. Maybe I should use this information in the database for the application which is finished now anyways and create a more specific Flash Code bit "description". i.e. QC2 on a Mts2000, I'll have to see what the best way of doing it is.

I have an MTS2000 model III on UHF (R split) that only has the H35 Conventional operation option and it does *not* do *any* form of MDC1200. No PTT-ID, no stat-alert, no ID display, etc...

My MTS2000 is a ancient R1.3X, H38 option and it only do MDC1200 encode, no message or stat-alert. It won't even display the flashcode when I do the 5 button press trick..:(

Just my $0.02
