HT1250 MDC ID Problem (charger issue??)

Post by mg3610 »

We have a series of HT1250's with MDC pre-ID that are causing some grief. When you transmit, the ID "misfires" and the side tone holds for a few seconds or until you turn thee radio off and back on. This only happens if they are turned on while still in the charger then taken out and used. If you take it out of the charger then turn it on there is no issue.

Any ideas???

Sounds like a firmware related issue. What version does it give you if you go into the utility menu and check the version?

Hello,

We had several which did the same thing. When you turned it on in the charger they did all sorts of weird things. Sent them back to M for an update and problem cleared.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

you should not be turning the radio on while it's in the charger to begin with.

The problem you describe is firmware related. The following is from the firmware release notes R05.09.13

Corrections
Item #1: Radio continuously transmits
If the radio is turned on while it is in the charger, then removed from the charger and PTT is pressed while set for a personality with MDC on transmit, the radio will continue to transmit after PTT is released. This problem has been corrected with this firmware version. Note that the charger user guide instructs the user to turn off the radio while it is in the charger.

If you have at least this firmware you will be okay, but if you're gonna get an upgrade done to your fleet you may as well have R05.10.05 flashed in as it is the newest.
