What radio are you trying to program? You said you had an original "programmer"; I'll take this as a RIB. Is the rib connected to a real comm port, or are you using a USB converter?

I've gotten similar errors before using my laptop through the serial card, but never through the desktop with a dedicated serial port.

Have you tried reinstalling the CPS?

Just some things to check.

Those error messages mean your RIB isn't working correctly. Check your connections and make sure you're using a REAL serial port. Also tell us what version of CPS you're using and for what radios.

Maby check the battery in your rib. If its weak, you can get that message..

Using CPS 6.02.05 tried everything and still getting error no prob with DOS based software (reads GP300's like a dream) trying to program a pro 7350 also tried it with a pro7150elite and still the same...
Next i'll open the RIB and look for cold solder tried 2 diff boxes with same problem.
Using a power transformer not a 9 volt batt.

Un-install then re-install the CPS. Sometimes this will eliminate quirks (like automatically exiting CPS after entering 38 personalities)

that version of cps is ancient but if it's the only version ever used then it should be ok. has anyone else ever written to those radios with newer cps?
