CM 300

Post by Dawgfan »

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I work for a small law enforcement agency. I just got a "new" radio (used but new to me). It is a Motorola CM 300. The radio is already programmed with the freq's we can use. When I got it, I can't figure out how to make it scan, how to program the scan list, etc. No one seems to have saved a manual. Can someone tell me how to get it to do this? Or does someone have a link to a site that has a downloadable manual or help? Thanks in advance for anyone able to help.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

the cm300 is a newer radio, it's still in production. if it is set up to scan and has a scan list in it all you should have to do is press the button assigned to make it scan, and that can be assigned to any of the programable buttons. and you have to make shure the mic is hung up on the clip and the clip is grounded, when the mic is hung up that tells the radio it can go back to scanning. if that don't do anything for you then i'd see if your local radio shop can read the radio for you and tell you what options are turned on and what buttons operate what. where are you located?

I am in GA. The display has what I think is the scan icon displayed, looks like a Z . It's got four buttons: 1,2, and 4 don't work. Button 3 when pressed brings up what looks like a list of options, "View List" is one of them. I tried to figure it out but can't.

the Z means it's scanning but you will have to have the radio read to see if the list is permanent or programable and which is the select button and things like that. i'm not near GA but maybe someone else on here is close and can help you out? but even tho it is in scan mode, you still have to have the mic hung up and grounded for it to work. when you pick up the mic it will stop scanning and go to the original channel.

Only if purposely programmed that way to do so. In the CM series, by default, the "off-hook suspends scan" option is set to "disabled" in the scan options screen.
