I just purchased an HT1000 UHF and I am having a problem when I connect a remote speaker mic. I have an HT1000 VHF now that I have been using for quite some time. I have tried both mics on both radios. Both Mic's work on my VHF Model but neither work when connected to my Newly aquired UHF model. Without the Mic attached the radio does power up and seems to operate fine. (I still need to program though) but when the speaker mic is attached it powers up but no noise is heard through either the radio speaker or the remote speaker mic. I did open both cases and even swapped the guts into the VHF's case to see if maybe a connection was bad. Still same problem. I did notice that on the side that connects to the remote speaker mic that there is a micro switch of some kind on the board of the radio that would be depressed when connecting an accessory onto the side port of the radio. The one on the UHF model seems to sit a little lower than the VHF model. Maybe this switch gets depressed when speaker mic is attached? Although I did look on the mic and there does not appear to be anything that would depress that switch on it when attached.
Thanks for your time. I hope I have provided enough information. I am new to taking these radios apart and programming them, hope there is a quick fix to this problem. Maybe a programming issue? Can you disable the accessory port? Feel I might have gotten burned on Ebay!!........
Thanks Again.......

Are these mics the public safety mics with the antenna on the mic?
Does that HT1000 actually have the RF switch inside that connects the RF output to the external antenna as well?
Many Jedis did not have the RF switch, such as the MTX9000, although the circular 'switch' is still present in the case, the actual switch is not located on the RF board though, so the public safety mic with antenna would be useless.
You may also have oxide or corrosion built up inside the case as the internal flex does not attach to the case itself, it is actually compressed against fingers on the Accy. port and held in place with a steel 'shim'.
You would have to remove the case, then slide the steel shim up, and out, exposing the contacts of the flex cable and the Accy. port connectors to see if there are bent fingers, or corrosion/oxide contaminants there.
Once you remove the case, you can look at the side that the mic attaches and look for a pair of spring fingers that make direct contact with the two uppermost contacts on the accessory port, those are the RF contacts.
If the switch is not installed, there will be no RF getting to the remote antenna if used with one.
It will be located right under the SMA RF connector, on the same side(right) on the radio.
The conenction to the SMA connector is made through a plated steel spring 'finger', and this is a very important area to check for solid, proper RF contact, as it MUST be touching the center contact of the SMA connector at all times.
Another item to consider, could be that the mic was rewired in the past, and is no longer suited to your radio.
It's possible, but not very likely though, but it is a valid point to consider.

I am not using a public safety speaker mic with the remote antenna. I am using a genuine motorola speaker mic that is used for the jedi series of radios as well as the newer XTS radios. I have another HT1000 using the same mic. The case on this radio is brand new. I have checked all of the connections and they seem fine. I have swapped the guts of my other radio into this case and tried the speaker mic and it works fine. Used both mics on the working radio as well, no problems.
As mentioned above when I connect the mic to the radio. It mutes all sound. When the mic is off the radio, It seems to function as it normally would while powering on etc....
Is there a setting in the programming to disable the accessory port? Or maybe there is a problem with the board on the radio? Like I mentioned before I did buy the radio on ebay. I might have gotten burned.
I thank you for your time and posts.
