maxtrac trunking 5.01 issues

Post by ccsd157 »

I have a box of maxtrac 820's and can get the rss to read the radio but it does not allow me to make any major programming changes. Am i doing something wrong, or do i have the wrong rss?

You definitely need the trunking version of the programming software to make any changes to the trunking info. Regular software might let you change the conventional channels, if any.

Make sure you go into setup and load your system keys, not just point to the right directory...

I have the trunking version 5.01 of the maxtrac rss. now as far as the system keys go...i have never done that so what exactly do i do and what does it do?

you would think that Motorola would send better instructions when you buy their software.

Actually the RSS does come with a nice instruction manual which has complete instructions for installation and configuration of the software including setting up the system keys.

Of course, since you have version 5.01, you may have misplaced your manual, what with having bought it so long ago, considering that version R05.05 came out 12 years ago and the more current version, R05.07.03 having been out since 2000.

You should probably contact Motorola and get the current version with a manual.

There is no Windows based software for the Maxtrac.
