syntor x codeplug needed
I am in need of a codeplug for a syntor x that uses the separate NP scan head. HLN4290A I can't seem to figure out how to get the NP buttons to work properly. I have tried all the settings I can think of in the syntorx software. (BTW I am using the freeware version downloadable here on Batlabs). I can get the radio to scan with the PRI button and can edit the scan lists but I also want it to scan specific channels with the NP head. Can anyone help? Thanks, Peter.
You probably know this already, but there is a chart of the eeprom architecture on (I think) Mike Blenderman's website. As far as I know, you have to first create the program as usual, then afterwards go into the section of the eeprom that will normally be blank, i.e. the 32-64 channel area, which is where the NP scan list stuff resides, and then manually hex edit those locations to do the NP scan function. Truly a pain and may be what has driven many of us to buy the X9000 radios.
Obviously, this is done for you with the suitcase programmer, which few of us have access to.
I'm in the same boat as you so I would be interested if anyone has a simpler way to access things like the MPL and the NP scan lists. I am using Paul Bennett's software, which doesn't provide these extra options.
By the way, there are jumpers inside on the NP scan board which have to be set for the right bank of channels, and as I recall, you can't use the operator select NP scan feature at the same time as the built-in scan feature.

I think your right about the hex editing. The byte that contains the selectable scan information does not change correctly when making the change in the software. I selected fixed scan and selectable and the bit that controls it did not change.

Got it to scan properly with the NP head. The software does not change the correct bit in byte A. You need to manually edit the file and it will work.

- What radios do you own?: I can't enter that much....
The codeplug layout you are talking about is located HERE.
You are definately right, it is a pain to go in and hex edit the codeplug after you make it with a program that is supposed to do it for you. Oh, well, at least it gets the frequencies and PLs right.

Yep, thats where I found the info on the bits and bytes. It was rather daunting at first but he more I read and reread it the more sense it all made. Oh well. The software was free. I got 2 complete radios for free and only had to spend $2.95 apiece for new EEPROMS that my programmer could program. One of the radios is being used as a base station for search and rescue replacing an incredibly ancient GE that actually had crystals!!!
