GP300 Weird Problem... Help

Post by MotoMax300 »

Never had this happen, I have a GP300 that was in use here, was receiving a tone from dispatch, (not set to decode them), then the radio went to Open Squelch (static), wouldnt change channels or hear anything, I thought the battery died, put a new one on it, wouldnt power on, pulled a battery off the conditioner (fully charged) wouldnt power on...

Opened the radio, fuse fine, all contacts fine, Volume / Power switch fine.... any ideas????

It was not in a charger when this happened.

Well, since the squelch circuit is controlled by the AFIC chip that's controlled in turn by the uP, and the synthesizer chip is controlled by the uP, the first place I would check if there's no powerup self test beep is the uP crystal, the 7.9488 Mhz clock on the uP pins 31 and 33

Did you also check the reset pin on the uP to be sure that on powerup nothing's holding the uP at reset and keeping it from booting up?
