P1225 Jack

Post by honda2000 »

Hey guys I have 3 p1225's with bad speaker/mic jacks. I dropped them off to get repaired at my local Motorola dealer and 4 weeks later he's still jerking with them. He's telling me the parts are on back order?
2 Part question, where can I get the jacks and how difficult is it to replace them? I'm pretty skilled with a soldering iron, I have been working with electronics for 30+ years...

I have 6 of them sitting here, $25 for 3 if you want them, they're not that hard to replace, just becarful and use a solder-sucker.

Max, thanks I will take you up on that, but let call the dealer tomorrow and get the radios back.
I dropped them off, told him what was wrong, and he dicked with them for 2 weeks before he finally said, hey, I guess the jacks are bad.
So I'm waiting to see if he's going to charge me for them.

I have another P1225 with a bad Volume/on-off pot, do you have one?

Do the radios have to be re-aligned after any of this work?

No alignment needed for this work.

I do have a pot as well, about 12 of them, PM me and we'll work out a package of all the parts you need.

Just a word of caution. There are two versions of the 1225. One uses 2 jacks, one rx audio, one tx audio. The other uses a one-piece jack. Better look to see what you really need.
