Remote for Trunking Radio

Looking for a remote to control a trunking (CDM1550+LS) radio as a control point on a zetron console...

a normal tone control will work fine, but the radio does not pass the go ahead beep or busy tone on pin-11, so you dont know when or if to talk.

i know someone has ran into this before...and i am just overlooking a snake about to bight me.....anyone...??

I think you'll just have to hook 'em up the same way we do with LCS2000 units...using the speaker output to drive the tone remote's rx line and get the talk permit/busy tones. It's not a big deal if the radio is going to sit where nobody is going to play with the volume control...or you could also take the signal from the top of the volume control where it doesn't vary.

Todd is right as long as nobody is there using the radio for local control and "cranks" the volume up and down you can pass the talk permit tone via one of the lines with a 4-wire circuit. May I ask which method you are using for transport? Leased line, Microwave or Packet? Would like to know.

we are using leased line....

i wouldnt think that anyone would crank on the volume knob, but i dont wanna be the one running the service call at 3am because of a crap load of overmod...

so, the volume control pot, is it variying speaker output or audio amp input?

basically what i am asking is if it is a flat signal at the knob or an amplified?

What about using signalling like DTMF or MDC-1200 as I am pretty sure the pre go ahead tone will pass through on pin 11.

I installed a CDM-1550LS+ with a local remote at a waste management company who is on our UHF LTR and remember the pre tone being passed. I Just turned off the go ahead tone in the LTR configuration so the radio had the same tone locally and through the remote.

I have had customers who also use the control radio for local control and this was a huge problem. Everytime they would move it, the person at the other end was affected. Do you have an ethernet LAN or DSL/Cable internet available? I can show you how to eliminate the leased line and its $ and do it much more reliably and free using packet. Just ask me about leased circuits after hurricane Wilma. The internet was always up though as long as you had power to your modem (at your end) rather than all of the batteries running dry at the CO (their end out of your control) and being told "we'll get to it when we get to it." This was for an ambulance company. This may be a welcome change for your customer because the monthly expense for the circuit goes away plus better uptime.
