spectra high power FL 01/90 when program cable is connected

Post by kd7tqn »

Hey,
When i connect my programming cable to my high power spectra and have the rib turned on my spectra locks up. If i turn it off than back on i get a fail 01/90 until i unplug the cable or turn the rib off. What might be the issue here?
i made my own cable and followed it to the T on the diagram. toned each wire out to make sure it went to the correct port. am i missing somthing?

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

has this radio worked fine in the past? 01/90 usually means a control head problem.

This FAIL 01/90"is normal when the Data lines get loaded down.

Did you include the Pin 12 wire?

Also some RIBs load down the data lines, there are mods for this at:http://www.batlabs.com/images/rib_mod.jpg

well i got the thing off of ebay and this is the first time i have programmed it in the high power case. before i got a high power power cable and programming cable i took the command board and mlm out and put it in a low power case so i could program it via the 15 pin connector. and it worked when i did that.

are you refering the pin 12 on the rib side or the radio side? i did include the one that goes from pin 12 on rib side to pin 22 on radio side.

the rib works programming everything else i have (maxtrac, gp300, spectra low power, ht1000, mt2000) i dont realy want to mod it.

Nope, that didnt work. sometimes when i power the radio than turn the rib on it freezes the radio, ie wont let me change channels or adust volume or anything like that until i unplug the cable or turn the rib off. Other times it will reboot the radio and give me a fail 01/90 until i either unplug the cable or turn the rib off.
