MCS2000 Volume Ctl not active

Post by jstigler »

I have an MCS2000 UHF 110w that the volume ctl is not active. Volume does not vary with the ctl. Audio is present but just low. Radio was new several years ago and just now got it installed. I don't see anything in the software that would affect this. Any thoughts?

We had a similar problem with two MCS2000's at the local fire company. They had worked fine and then just quit. Ended up being the volume pot in each of them went bad. Not sure, maybe this is common with this model line.

See if this works: Readjust the volume, then turn the radio off and back on. Does this change the volume?

If so, I'd bet you have a rear control head. This happened with me once and I couldn't figure out for the life of me what was going on.
