MTX8000 B3 Type II Codeplug?

I have a MTX8000 B3 radio (No Display) Type I Trunk, I read that I could clone a Type II codeplug into it, But the Radio won't allow It. I'm using R06.07 RSS and the Radio's are the same model Numbers.
Is There anything that can be done to convert the radio to handel a type II codeplug?????

You can use MTSX Lab to force in another codeplug with the feature set you want. Just make sure to write down the tuning values before you force it in, and make sure to imput them afterwards. Failing to do this will cause the radio to loose all it's tuning values. Of course it goes without saying that it's highly recommended that you NOT do this for any radio that will see Public Service use.

Thanks for the Info, Only the lab RSS will clone it in? what is the latest version of LAB Software in Dos? I have the 3.04 and its too old to open all of the B3 Type II codeplugs I have, Is there anyway to Modify the codeplugs so I could use them?

It doesn't need to open them. Simply ignore the "codeplug too new" error...that just means it couldn't "unpack" the codeplug & display it's contents, but the "packed" codeplug is still loaded into memory. So, after you read the codeplug & get the error, just go into the "read/write with no pack/unpack" screen & you'll see the "F8-write radio" option. Hitting F8 will "force" the Type II codeplug into the radio.

Make sure you follow the advice a few posts above & write down all the current tuning values in the radio, as they will change to the values of the forced codeplug.

Also, save an S-record of the original radio codeplug, just in case something goes wrong.

Hey folks,

I came across several MTX8000's (H01UCC6DB3AN) for cheap, and have been trying to do exactly what was discussed in this thread. I haven't had much luck - after reprogramming the radio, it simply isn't receiving anything. Since this is a B3 model with no display, I assume that it is throwing some type of FAIL condition.

Trying to take everything to the most basic level, I loaded the saved codeplug for this actual radio in regular MTSX RSS (R06.00.00), made a few changes, and saved it. Following wavetar's instructions I then tried to "force" the codeplug back into the radio using LAB (R02.00.01) - same problem, generally useless radio.

I should note that after doing the "force" procedure the radio will not read by either LAB 02.x (wouldn't expect it to) -or- MTSX 06.x (I would expect it to). The only way to get the radio operating again is to program it back with a "raw" codeplug, as described on the Batlabs MTSX page.

Am I missing something here? According to what I've read this should be a relatively straightforward procedure, but I haven't had any luck.

Bumping this up. Could anybody double check me on the forcing a codeplug procedure? I haven't had any luck getting these portables to program up.

I'd say you need LAB 3.00.02 in order to do what you want. If you had a known good packed codeplug to do it with, it probably wouldn't matter, but since you're actually reading a 'regular' codeplug & then forcing it in, I believe the later LAB version will fix your issue.
