XTL5000 /w O5 head - radio reset problems?

Post by kj7xe »

FYI for those who have XTL5000s with O5 heads-

We've just started installing a bunch of these radios in a number of vehicles, and have been getting a multitude of reports of a major problem:

The user complaint is that the radio intermittently resets when attempting to TX, and one apparent occasion where the radio reset during RX. All of the radios were in the scan mode when the problem occurred. The radio transmissions were of normal, average lengths, not from rapid key-ups. The power and antenna wiring to these radios have been installed in accordance with the installation instructions.

The problem occurred on radios with various host/DSP versions. We were able to provide our USFGMD engineers with the actual error dump codes from the radio and control heads of a few of the failed radios (who forward it on to Plantation), so hopefully that will help them at figuring out where the bug is at (and it's suspected to be in the control head software).

Is anyone else experiencing this same problem? Just curious. I guess /\/\ is working on getting it fixed and they are sending us a couple control heads to test with, so we'll see...
