I have LAB RSS R05.30.00 for the Maxtrac Mobile. I am trying to find out what size computer is best to use with this version. I apologize if this seems like a stupic question to any of you but I am fairly new to all of this and am afraid of ruining my radio.
Also can anyone confirm if this is the correct version for a VHF Maxtrac. The RSS PN# is RVN4019H. I purchased my radio at an auction of a closed shop in my area and this program was on a disk in the box with the radio when I opened it. Any help anyone could give me with this would be greatly apreciated.

All of the MaxTrac programming software operates in a DOS environment, so almost any computer will be big enough. Disk storage requirements are minimal, in fact you can almost run the software entirely from a floppy disk, but it's faster on a hard drive. It'll need the usual 640kb of program space (memory) so any machine with 1MB or more ought to work. Speed could be your biggest problem; machines up to 100 MHz seem to work fairly reliably, but if you go way faster (2-3 GHz), you could have problems. Almost any old clunker 386 or 486 is great for MaxTrac programming.
You can do things with the package you have that could render a radio useless, or allow you to do things to it that could let it operate out of its normal specifications, so be careful.
