Headset and remote PTT for Spectra.

Post by superdave99j »

I guess I'll start off with saying that I'm a newbee so any advice I get will be greatly appreciated. I recently aquired 5 spectras with remote heads (some a4, some a5 ) and will be installing them in fire trucks. I was wondering if there is a special connection and or what it takes to wire a headset with mic and PTT on the front of the trucks. Will the palm mic connected to the head still work with external setup? I'm wondering if motorola has a kit for this specific app?

In my opinion the best and most expensive intercom and radio equipment is David Clarke. Setcom and Sigtronics also make fire truck intercom and radio interface equipment at a lesser cost.

Lately our FD has been buying turn key trucks with the radios and intercoms already installed. The intercom used is Sigtronics and I hate it! The conditions of the grant will not let the city radio shop supply the equipment or do the work.

I guess I didn't want to install intercoms for our pump trucks. I just want to be able to operate the radio inside and outside the truck, because of the noisey enviroments. And yes I do like David Clark equipment. We have a limited supply of portables so by doing this we can free up atleast 2 of them.
