Unknown base station.

Post by radio230 »

I am the Post Advisor for my local police exploorer post and these items were given t the post from the local fire department after their last equipment upgrade. I have searched every where and cannot find out anything about this equipment. I have learned it is some type of remote base station with 4 available channels and (I think) that is was made in the late 70's. It has an Alert Central paging encoder hooked up to it. I know alittle about the paging encoder (being a dispatcher) but not alot. It also has what appears to be a standard motorola desk mic attached. The individual model #s are:

Motorola (unknown) Remote Base
Model# T1604BM
Serial# 222CDC0261

Motorola Alert Central
Model# E08ENC0006AL
Serial# 235ADC0258

If you like you can see photos of the above items at http://new.photos.yahoo.com/spaz_200/albums.

Any help in identifing these would be great. These items were donated to the Police Explorer Post here in town and I am trying to gather information about them in order to sell them to help raise money for the post. That being said, if anyone knows about these items and is interested in them let me know and I will post an ad in the proper forum.

Thanks

The T1604BM is a 4 channel Tone Remote desk set for remote control of a base station. The other unit is a 2-tone paging encoder which only does the limited set of tones listed on the label.

If the T1604 is in good working condition you might get about $25 for it. If, as is common with these units, the switches or volume control are noisy or intermittent, it is junk. Any interest in the paging encoder is questionable but, you never know.

The T1604 is not junk. Still in daily use for over 20+ years. The audio caps probably have ESR (causing low rx audio) and are easily replaced. I wouldn't give it away.

bat2way, would you know where to find technical information about the remote base (and the paging encoder for that matter). Also if you (or anyone else) would know anyone that may be interested in either the remote base or the encoder, or both together let me know and I will post in the for sale forum.

Thank for your help too.
