Cellwave Antenna Question

Post by spareparts »

Any idea if the RFS Cellwave 10017-8 antenna can be field tuned for 902-927 Mhz? There's one my sites roof & was wondering if I could re-use it for a ham repeater.

I'm not sure I understand the question about re-tuning:

I believe that the RFS 10017-8 is specified for 900-935 so it is native to the 900 ham band.

See the spec sheet:

In general, you cannot re-tune omni-directional co-linear (white stick) antennas. Also, those with really high gain, such as the series you're talking about, don't perform all that well way out of band. As an example if you were using the 800 version of this on the ham band it would likely have high VSWR and uptilt on the already narrow vertical beamwidth.

Good Luck, Bob

Thanks - The folks at RFS did not return my e-mail. Will borrow a radio from a local & see how it works (it's only at 80' AAT).

Tried the antenna with a GTX on 902.8625. Antenna loaded up fine. Now to glom one of those PSE&G repeaters that are being discussed ! http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=63976
