Since my last thread got hijacked by some idiot who has nothing better to do than flame and brag about free radios...
Hi guys. I'm going to be doing some traveling in early 2007 for work. The Fire Department where I'm staying is using a Type I Hybrid system. This is the system I want to set up: http://www.radioreference.com/modules.p ... R&sid=2360.
Obviously I want it for RX only. Before I get the "buy a scanner" thing, keep in mind that my radio is not capable of transmitting (the PA has been removed and TX values set so that a service monitor 1 foot away cannot detect anything). Any idea how I would go about doing so in an MTX8000? It's capable of Type I, there was a Type I system in it when I bought it.
Thanks guys!
Edit:
One thing of note that may or may not be wrong. There seems to be A-H number of size codes in a Motorola. There seem to be just as many fields in that array on the RR page (B0-B7). B2 has a 3 in it. Am I to assume that the correct size code for this system would be C?

The issue is that you're going to need a system key for the system to even input the data into RSS.
Why not read one of their portables (with their permission of course), and get the information from there? It's not going to help with the system key issue, but it'll certainly answer all of your other questions.
Perhaps one of their communications personnel would be kind enough to help you?

The system key isn't an issue. It's a Type I system keep in mind - system ID's aren't unique on a Type I system and keys are much easier to come by
I used to have a Type I Maxtrac that was programmed by their radio shop which I picked up at a hamfest in the city a few years back. But, smart me went and dumped the codeplug and reprogrammed it without saving. Always save your codeplugs!!
