Big problems with Motorola GP380 Squelch! Need Help!

Post by RevolutionXLR »

Hello!

Ich have some big problems with my Motorola GP380 VHF Radio.
First of all: the radio works almost perfect. Very good RX an TX performance.

But I have a big problem with my squelch. When receiving a low signal at the edge of the squelch level, the squelch does not cut off acurate. This radio beginns to "rattle" (quelch on/off many times per second) at a certain point and when the signal gets lower the squelch cuts off as it should do.

My 2 other GP3xx radios cut off more precisely when receiving a signal at the edge of the squelch level. No rattle sound through the speaker.

For me it looks like the hysteresis of this radio ist not set correctly.
How can I adjust it?

I tried to fix it with the Professional Radio Tuner (R02.11.00) but I could not find an option for hysteresis.

Then I tried do adjust the "Auto Squelch Level". I turned down the softpot values but that did not really help. The squelch level was now lower but the rattle was still there when receiving signals at the edge of the squelch level.

Can you please help me? Is there any possibilty to adjust some kind of hysteresis? I was already at a Motorola Service but they did not even know how to handle the tuning-software!!!

Thanks!!!

What version of firmware do you use? If it's an oldy, maybe an upgrade will solve your problems.

Thanks a lot for your reply!

The radios native Firmware was R02.02.04
I upgraded to R03.05.00 an then to R03.07.05 but the problem still remains. So I think it's not a firmware problem.

Any other ideas?
