Programming MTX 9000

Post by ouwxman1 »

Hello Group. I have been reading up on the programming issues with the MTS 2000. My question is I have a couple of MTX 9000s. I am trying to get them programmed up. I did as some other posts mentioned and fully charged the batteries on them. I am using a rib-less cable for them and using DOS RSS 6.04. I can read the less featured model(H01WCC4DB3AN MTX 9000 900mhz Standard Package no keypad Firmware 1.51). I need to perform the Hex Edit first to be able to program for Ham frequencies but at least I can read it. The radio I cant read(H01WCF4DB5AN 900mhz MTX 9000 also firmware 1.51). It will try to read it however (beeps and reads the memory blocks) then comes back with the Codeplug too new error. What does everyone think that I should do to resolve the issue? Will the newest DOS RSS 6.07 take care of it theoretically? If it is possible, is there a CPS available for this radio. On the note of CPS. Its my understanding that the CPS is for the newer radios such as HT 1250 ect. I assume only the DOS RSS is the only available for the old MTX 9000 beasts. Sure appreciate your guys information. :)

if it has been programed with CPS

RVN4176U CPS R02.02.00 MTS2000

The you need the CPS software.
It may just be that the later dos one works.
If you order CPS you will also get the current DOS version and the CPS kills the DOS version hands down

If his version of RSS is older than what was used, then he'll need to 'upgrade' to that version level at the very least.

I'll bet it was programmed with R06.07, and if so, that's all he'll require.

And as he already stated, obtaining ham splits will require hex workshop and modifying the band limits.

I used 6.04 on it still not new enough. Worked on the hex edits with a couple of friends and it does work ok on my older B3 model of the MTX 3000. Got it working like a champ. Thanks for the help!

Yep, as you stated, R06.04 may still be too old, and you'll need R06.07.

I hope it wasn't CPS as I have no idea if you can overcome that by using a later version of RSS if CPS was used.....I don't know as I don't use CPS myself and have not had the chance to try it.

I wish you luck regardless!

Got it working on 6.07

Post by ouwxman1 »

Was able to read my B5 model on the 6.07 software. I was reading up on the hex edits in some of the other posts. I have tried searching for the string 935.0125 which is what the lower limit says. I replaced both of those values with 879.0125 which should be low enough to cover all ham freqs in it. But when i changed the two values the program errors out. Does anyone else have suggestions or a modified odb they could demonstrate how to chage it properly? Thanks
