MTS2000 Problem Question

Post by fire-medic8104 »

I have a 800 MTS2000 that has worked flawlessly for the past year. It is programmed for our system for fire/ems. Before anyone says buy a scanner, this is a legitimate radio, with a legitimate ID and legitimate System Key being used. It is a smartnet radio on a smartzone system, but other than that everything has worked fine.

I have it programmed to where the A,B,C switch controls the closest 3 towers. I can normally access 2 towers from my house. On one tower I get a connect tone and can talk just fine. On the other tower, I can not get a connect tone.

I got with the system administrator and he doesn't see anything wrong, though he just normally clones a generic codeplug. He really doesn't know much about radios. He said my ID was still in the system and looked fine.

I have looked at the programming and don't see anything out of the ordinary. All systems have the same parameters with the exception of the control channels.

Anyone ever run into this kind of problem?

I didn't talk to him about one thing, but on a smartzone system doesn't all ID's go through a central controller? I assumed that if for some reason I got deleted, is it possible to get deleted from one tower but not the others.

Since I am intimately familar with the system you are speaking of, you may want to go by the radio shop. If this is a authorized radio, the firmware will be re-freshed and flagrd with the latest smartzone flash that is currently being used for the system. The firmware upgrade will get your radio ready for rebanding. As a authorfixed subscriber this is all included for you. If not remember that these sites are in a state of transition and particular sites have been going down from time to time for maintanence and other related issues.

Yep, it is the same system you are thinking of. When our county got sucked into this horrible system, we were supposed to be under a maintenance contract, that never happened. But I guess our local tower has been having problems, because it justed started working fine. I don't know what the problem was.

The radio shop won't flash our radios because they are not owned by them, we have to pay for it through Motorola then they will. Since it works fine (and I don't have the problems that some other radios are having with one tower overriding the other) I am happy with it. I don't know what the deal was, hopefully won't be anymore issues.
