GR1225 Question

I have a GR1225 UHF Repeater. They are 16 Channel repeaters. I would like to know what i would need to have to Program 2 frequencies in this repeater (1) frequency for security and the other for Housekeeping. Can this be done

To program both, you'd need the RSS, m1225/Maxtrac programming cable, and a RIB. Since the GR is a channelized repeater, you won't get repeat on both sets of channels without someone switching[at the repeater].

Sort of...you cannot set the repeater to automatically recognize the second incoming frequency & switch to it. Also, the R1225 repeaters cannot scan, so that's not an option either.

The only way to do it is to set it up as a "community repeater"...that is, set up different departments with the same frequency, but different PL/DPL.

Ideally, you would hook up some sort of multiple PL/DPL capable controller. It would control the repeater & allow/disallow the appropriate PL/DPL codes.

A cheaper, simpler but less flexible method would be to set the repeater in CSQ mode, and set the 'repeater audio mode' to "flat" as opposed to "EIA". This will allow the PL/DPL from the field radios to be repeated. Therefore, if you have Housekeeping radios programmed with 103.5, it'll pass it & all housekeeping radios will receive it. You would have Security radios programmed to DPL 023 for instance, and only they would receive it.

The problem with the above is that it leaves the repeater wide open for any interference which might come it's way, since it's set to CSQ. With a controller, you have control over what PL/DPL codes will work.
