Specified File cannot be found" error with R05.00.00

Post by 1mlgcommo »

I recently installed ASTRO 25 ortable CPS ver R05.00.00 with tuner R04.00.01. The tuner application opens fine, but the CPS will not open and gives the above mentioned error. The same error pops up a second time and then an error report is sent to microsoft.

I installed from the same exact disk to a windows 2000 Machine last evening and it runs fine! I am currently trying to run the program on a Windows XP Home edition. Any ideas on what might cause this?

I am a Marine and my boss wants these radios for the field on Tuesday. If I cannot get this computer working by then I'm screwed! I would use the other computer, but it fell off the Hummer we were working on and is T O A S T! Any help would be a huge help! Since I'm dealing with the government - purchasing new software or upgrading for a price is out of the questions. I need to make what I have work! The software is all legit and like I said it worked yesterday on the other computer.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

try to completely uninstall the program and tuner and re install just the program, don't install the tuner, you'll never need that unless you have to tune it up, it has nothing to do with programming. one problem you might have tho after you get the program working is that version of cps is old and if the radios have been written with anything newer than your version won't work and you will get an error saying "codeplug to new". the newest version is 8.00. but the program should still install and work on any version of xp.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programs in multiple configurations. No matter what program is installed or uninstalled the CPS program returns the same error. The program never loads therefore I never get the code plug error.

Incidentally, if I could get teh program to open then the code plug would be fine. These radios have only ever used r05.00.00. Is there anyway I can get an upgraded version of the CPS to try and install that?

Like I said - everything worked great last night until my Sgt knocked the computer off the Hummer!

well you need to read the rules of the board here, you don't want to be asking for any software but if you are with the government and already have a legit version i'm shure you can get the latest version but unfortunately dealing with motorola nothing happens fast. if you have a factory disk i've never seen it not install on an xp machine. what radios are you trying to program?

Regardless of the fact that the radios have not been programmed with anything newer than the R05 revision you're dealing with, it's possible that there is some bug in that revision that prevents it from working on XP. Like others have said, if you have a current subscription to the software, and an active MOL account, you should be able to call up Motorola, and as soon as they have verified things on their end, the newest revision should be available for download through your MOL account. Part of the problem with running the older revision, is even if it is legit, Motorola will probably not provide support for it. However with the current version they should.

The software is legit, but I do not have an MOL account. The turn around seems to be a couple days and I leave Monday afternoon so I guess that wont work. I am programming XTS5000s.

Where are you located? Your next bet option will be seeing if there is a dealer - or someone on the board that is able to help you.

Check with your closest Civil Support Team. In California that would be the 95th.

Each of these units is equipped with an interoperable communications vehicle containing JPS1000 Gateways and numerous Motorola radios. They should have the programming software and could help you with your programming issue.
