Maxtrac 300/ Channels?
I aquired a Maxtrac 300, model D34MJA77A3_K, 25 watt, band split of 449.0-470.0 with 16 pin connector. I used RSS Version R05.300 to program in a frequency which worked fine. My question is...does this particular radio support more than one channel? I can only see one listed under conventional modes(1). The radio has 3 lower buttons....MON EXIT SELECT. On the left side is the UP/Down buttons. The number on the top circuit board is HLE9310B. A bar code sticker on the bottom of the radio has HUE2123A2 25W 16F. If anyone can provide any info or what to look for to add additional channels it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.....
It should be capable of 6 modes; that's what the last "7" in the model number indicates.
But you have to ADD the modes before you can fill them in.
Get to the CHANGE codeplug screen (main menu, F4), then go to the item for editing frequency data (I think it's F5). Down at the bottom you'll see Mode Utility (F8). Press this. You can add/delete/copy/move modes around. As you only have one mode right now, the default ADD is what you want. Tab through the fields so it copies mode 001 or makes a new blank mode (your choice). Press F8. Do this as many times as you want new modes. Then press F10 to get back to the previous screen. You can now scroll through all the modes with F3 and F4 and fill them in.
If you want more than 6 modes, you'll have to blank and initialize the radio and change the model number such that it allows 16 or 32 modes. Some boards can accept more modes, others can not.
There's an article about doing this on http://www.repeater-builder.com, in the Motorola area, MaxTrac section. In fact, there are several good MaxTrac articles there, covering a lot of subjects.

Its a 16ch radio, but it sounds like it was just programmed for one. Go to the screen where you edit that channel than look at the bottom, you will see Mode Utility, go to that and add modes, then you can edit and program them.
