MCS2000 CPS help needed

I am very new to this hex editing stuff and I must be doing something wrong. I searched here at the forum regarding hacking the MCS2000 CPS and ( I think ) followed the directions given. I opened the MCS2000 . exe file with Hex Workshop and replaced the the lower band limit with what I need ( 450.00000 replaced with 440.000000 ) and then save the file, but when I read the radio and try to enter a freq below 450.000 as soon as I click on another entry it reverts back to 450.000.

I am using the free trial of Hex Workshop, but their site states that is has full functionality during the trial.

The codeplug of the radio already has hammy freqs in it but I cannot change them with out it reverting back to 450.000.

Someone please enlighten me as to what the heck I am doing wrong.

ok if i'm understanding you right you are trying to do this trick with the mcs2000 cps correct? if so then your problem is that you need to be doing that with the mtsx rss versions. but if you have already used cps on the radio you can't go back to rss unless you have an old saved codeplug for rss to work with then it will let you write that to the radio. the free trial version of hex don't matter, it will still work and alter your files.

HLA, the CPS can be modified just as easily as the RSS. KE7DZZ, I believe your problem is that there are several instances of the bandsplit which need changing. See this thread for more info:

Here is the odd thing. I followed the directions you posted to the letter using the latest release of Hex Workshop, it didn't work. I tried doing each instance individually, didn't work. I tried this, and I tried that, didn't work.
This morning I tried an older version of Hex Workshop, IT WORKED BEAUTIFULLY!!!!

Go figure

I have a 900 mHz MCS, and I was unsuccessful at moving the receiver limits for it in CPS (the DOS RSS "hack" worked fine, so I used that, but it would be nice if the CPS worked on 900..)
I could put the transmit (including TA) anywhere I wanted, but the receiver limits were locked in, at least using the "Intel unsigned long" method..

I have CPS ver. 1.10.00 (old, I know..)

I have the same CPS( R01.10.00) and had some problems with the newest Hex Workshop. I got it to work using Hex Workshop ver.2.54.
