LCS2000 vs GTX Mobile

Post by RailroadTech »

Ok Motorola is really annoying me first the Clean Cab Spectra thus my alias now they seem to be doing the same thing with the LCS2000 mobile.

The product was cancelled in 2004 or 2005 and they tell me I can not buy parts for it. I can not even from the looks of it buy a manual.

Two Questions what happened with the promise that Motorola would support a product 5 years after cancellation? Next news is sorry guys we can not longer supply parts for the XTS3000.....

Second since I can not seem to get a manual does anybody know is there as difference in the main board from a GTX mobile to a LCS2000?

Maybe the LCS2000 have a larger EEProm or something but it looks the same to me.

The main boards were physically identical up to around 2003, with just a firmware difference for the SmartZone capable LCS units (and also different firmware for the LTR capable GTX). The later GTX boards had two small dip switches on the board, and didn't require ignition sense to turn on, whereas all LCS units I've seen stayed with the older board design.

You're right about the a lot of the parts being cancelled...I have no idea how they plan to support the radios for another 5 years if parts aren't available. It would explain the depots long turn around times for the LCS units I've sent in recently.
