Syntor/Spectra Parts Notice...

Post by kb0nly »

I recently placed an order for parts to refurb an X9000 for someone else, just want to let you guys know that a lot of these parts are NLA or close to it!

Buttons..

Ext - Subject to depletion of current stock
VRS - Subject to depletion of current stock
Rcl - Out of Stock, was told they may reorder. Shows them in stock on MOL but when i ordered one it was removed from the order.

Parts..

A9 head back plastic - Subject to depletion of current stock
Display Lens - On order, but backordered to February

A lot of the other button numbers i looked up where shown a subject to depletion as well. If you need parts, get them now, before they are all NLA.

Last I checked, and small #5 button for A7/W7 control heads wasn't available either.

Are there different PNs for XTL5000 buttons? They'll fit the Spectra.

I looked at the Spectra, Astro Spectra, and XTL service manuals and came across a lot of the same numbers.

So I called Parts ID this afternoon and said "WTF!? - these are for current production radios." I then got passed off to customer service who opened a case for me. When I got home from work, I had an email in my box saying that the case was closed and the buttons will be orderable again in 3-5 days. We'll see what happens.

It was explained to me that it is likely because they are switching vendors. I'm not sure I buy that though.

Way to go all you heavy #5 button pushers...! Spare 'em some grief, please push the other buttons as well. Or lay off #5. Poor thing.

Oh, that has nothing to do with it. See, because of my codependent personality, I'm always trying to help. When I see the poor, crippled A5 or W5 control heads, I have this desire to enable them to reach their full potential as A7/W7 heads.

FWIW: The part numbers for the XTL heads that I had posted on the main BL page no longer works. You have to order the blank control plastic which comes with all the buttons as "clear" buttons (no labels). Same price I think.

Apparently at some point they did shift a few part numbers and packages around.
