Visar programming

Post by ray7278 »

I have a Visar from USA (H05KDH9AA7DN). There is no problem to program it (frequencies, PL,...) with RSS HT1000 (R03.02.01). I have a very old computer and it works good. I want to use the software R06.06.00 (for GP 900 and Visar select-5 in Europe) but when I try to read the radio, I have the message "model number not supported".
What can I do ?
I read post about regional code AA, LA, FD, MD,....(CPS 6.0 Regions Finally Hacked) but I don't use XP, so I don't know what to do !

Thanks for your help

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

the post you are referring to is for the waris pro radios like the ht1250's that run cps under windows. unfortunately you are using rss that is under dos and the reason it says model not supported is because the visar and ht1000 is a us model radio and has different options and as you stated, the overseas version uses select 5 so the two don't work with eachother even tho they look alike. you can alter the rss to match model numbers but i don't know what it will do if it gets confused trying to decode options that it don't understand? maybe somebody else has tried this?

They are completely different beasts, the RSS packages are different. It's not like the Professional Series software that was the same for all areas, & just required a registry modification.

Thanks for your answers. I hoped it could be easy !!!
I don't really anderstand the idea "alter the rss to match model numbers" How can I try this, and what problem could happen...?

Is it possible to change codeplug ? To take a codeplug from Europe for visar with select-5 and give it to my visar ?

Thanks for your help.

Does anyone to help me to run my Visar (US model) with European Software for select-5 (R06.06) ? What's about the idea to change the codeplug ?

It's likely tha the US and European versions of the Visar not only have different RSS packages, but do in fact have different firmware. So even if you were able to stuff a US codeplug into a European radio, chances are it wouldn't work.

Is it possible to change the firmware ?
Does the Hard can be different between US and European Model ?
