mt2000 help!!!

Post by jmr3865 »

I am missing the wallwart portion to the mt2000 charger (pn NTN1171A) and am in need of two pieces of information. 1. What is the part # of the walwart that goes with this charger & 2. What are the specs of this walwart so I can get one from radio shack ASAP. Thanks

In the course of accumulating various GTX and Jedi radios to play with, I ended up with a lot of chargers without power supplies. It escapes me how people can think those are less important, it's not like the charger is any good without the supply, but somehow the supplies seem to be what goes astray. Maybe they're behind the dryer with the missing socks. Anyway, I made up the following chart to take along to swap meets and surplus stores in search of substitute parts. For each charger it describes first the supply, and then the connector needed for it. Maybe someone else will find it useful too.

Charger Power Supplies - All are center pin +

---------------------------------------------------------------

Standard charger (Jedi NTN1174A or GTX HTN9702A):

Model: 2580955Z02 12 VDC 2.4 W (200 mA)

1.3 mm ID, 3.5 mm OD. Size H at the Shack, catalog # 274-1571

---------------------------------------------------------------

GTX Rapid Charger HTN9042A:

Model: 2580600E01 13.8 VDC 0.9 A

2.5 mm ID, 5.5 mm OD. Size N at the Shack, catalog # 274-1573

---------------------------------------------------------------

Jedi Rapid Charger NTN1171A:

Model: 2580162R01 13.8 VDC 1.5 A

2.5 mm ID, 5.5 mm OD. Size N at the Shack, catalog # 274-1573

I've powered one up with one of those 20 dollar 13.8V 3A power supplies you find at hamfests (knock off of the classic RS models) with no trouble. Common center top coaxial plug. Motorola wants way too much for the OEM transformer...

After I went to bed, I realized I wanted to say that as well. It would be useful for other things as well.
