Ok here's my issue.
I have a 2000 Eone Quint. The operator of the truck hooks up to the truck, pumps it, sets up the aerial and operates it all at the same time. We have a cdm1550 in the side compartment. We currently have a mic that will attatch to the back and attatch to the operator. It will reach the rear of the truck to operate the aerial but it's a PIA. We don't use it. There aren't usually portables available. It is very loud. Is there a wireless headset, or something that they make, that the operator can wear, listen to the radio, transmit from the mobile (50w) and operate everything? I still want every FF to hear the main radio enroute to the call. Any help is appreciated.
Out-of-band HT w/ headset, and a vehicular repeater (Pac-RT or equivilent) hooked to the mobile. That would give him app. one mile of coverage, depending on conditions/how it is set up.
any other suggestion's? My next thing is to put a 3rd! mobile on the truck and put it in the control box on top of the platform and run the wires through that.
run a speaker line and mount a speaker in the back too? you can switch the line towards the back so when he's standing in the back he can alternate between speakers
How about a David Clark headset? You can have jacks at each position and just unplug from one, move to another and plug back in, or one can be used on a portable.
Why don't you try to get another portable (I.e HT1250) and then get an ear muff headset and only the operator can use that radio? Seems easier to me. Try this headset AARMN4020B. It would take out the loud noises, and the operator could still transmit and receive.
