Hopefully Easy-Taking MTX838(Jedi Series) case apart
Does anyone have any tips for getting the case off my MTX 838? It has just been re-cased (by previous owner) and some pixels are not showing up on the top display. I assume its probably a ribbon cable not plugged in all the way. How can i get this dad-blamed case off without breaking it to bits? Thanks!

I hate to tell you, but it sounds like the LCD is bad itself. The top display LCD can be damaged very easily when removing them from the housing. Usually if the flex is not seated correctly it would affect the complete LCD, not just a pixel or two.ouwxman1 wrote:Does anyone have any tips for getting the case off my MTX 838? To remove the housing is an easy job. IIRC Motorola does make a tool for it, but I use a small $1.00 (From Moto) tool. It is just a piece of plastic with a wedge at one end. We use them every day at work. Some people use a screw driver, but that is good way to tear the O-ring, and damage the nice new housing.

Yes i hope re-seat works. It appears to be a brand new screen as well. I can see the O-ring looks to be sticking out slightly at the bottom of the casing. and the top half of the display seems to be not working some times and working somewhat others. I will try to get inside and see what the culprit might be. Thanks again! Will try to procure one of the tools.

The P/N is SLN7223A, it is a "black stick" in the manual. Price is under $1.00 from Motorola. I have seen some cell phone stores selling them for $5.00 and up!! If you can't find one let me know.
