MTS2000 VHF F01/93

I just got this in off of Ebay. I tried to read it with 6.04 and 6.07 they wouldn't work so I had to read it with RSS 2.01. I made my changes and wrote the codeplug back to it and it worked fine. I realized I missed something and reprogramed it and it came up with a F01/93. I tried to clone and reprogram several times with the same CP that I edited and still a F01/93. I tried to read with 6.04 and 6.07 and that still doesn't work.
The radio version is 5.44 is there anything I can try before sending this to the depot? What about reflashing?

you used lab on it and now it's toolproofed. read the link above and you might be able to get it breathing again. if you send it in to be fixed i hope you have alot of spare cash and a good explanitation of how it happened. it will be cheaper to buy another radio used if you don't have the records to fix this one. the reason 6.07 didn't work is because it was written to with a newer version of cps.

I got it to a F01/92 does anyone have a codeplug they are willing to donate? The flashcode is 0000010000009 VHF MTS2000 top display option H35. To be read with R6.07 Thanks

Forcing another codeplug from another radio will result in a F01/93 .. if you managed to fix the F01/93, I'd save the s-record now while you can.

The F01/92 is a corrupted codeplug. Forcing another codeplug into the radio will fix the F01/92 but then you will have the F01/93 again because the codeplug won't match the radio's fingerprint.

Here are your ways to fix it:

1) happen to have a codeplug read with newer RSS saved BEFORE you used lab on it.

2) run a flash upgrade on it.

3) send it to Motorola.

Short of that, you can't fix it yourself. No reading, writing or anything will fix it now. All of the codeplug changes you can do are done with labtool. Labtool does not calculate and update the fingerprint. To take that codeplug from disk, read into the latest RSS won't do it either. I intentionally caused a F01/93 to try all sorts of methods to recover a radio and the above were the only ways of doing it.

Actually to keep playing with it like you are risks making the problems worse (according to Monty from back in the day...)

So can I take it to the local MSS shop and get the flash upgraded to say H35 feature set done there, instead of sending it to the Depot? Also what do you guys think H35 would cost or is that a question for the shop?

no, the only place that can recover the toolproofing error is the Motorola depot. Be prepared to get asked questions (the only way to get this error is using unauthorized LAB/DEPOT on the radio) and pay around 300 bucks to get it fixed.

you may want to look for a replacement radio or controller giving the declining value of MTS2000 and other legacy analog radios.

You could "flash" it into an MT2100 (European version) and be all set as long as you don't need trunking.

A guy by the name of Andreas on here has a site that details the procedure. It's in German, but any translator software will change it to English for you. Here is the link.

As for the explanation as to how your error happened, forget it, just tell them it was like this since you obtained it, that's all they need to know.

You are under no obligation to give them a lengthy speach as to how and why, it's your radio, let them deal with reversing the problem as you are paying them to do it, so since you are the customer, you don't 'need' to explain your reasons to anybody.

probably cheaper to buy an old B3 MTX8000 off Ebay and scavenge the controller from it. You'll need a good top display c/p or S-record to put it in using your favorite software package we won't speak of, and of course a full realignment will be needed to put the radio in spec, but it's alot cheaper and less hassle than trying to find a replacement Flashport controller or paying through the nose to get the Mexidepot to touch it.

Also, if you did send it to Motorola, you would be forced to buy the latest CPS ($265.00) because they would use the latest CPS to update the radio.

So, not only would you pay to have the radio fixed ($300.00?), but add that software to it and now you're up to almost $600.00.

If you're handy with a soldering iron, I'd make Andreas UNIRIB and flash that radio into an MT2100 and be done with it.
