IMPRES Question

Post by BLOCKHEAD »

I have the hi-cap Impres battery for my Saber, and I have the Impres charger. Battery says to charge for 32 hours initially...now, if I throw it in the Impress charger, should I keep it on trickle until the 32 hours is up? I have little experience with Impres.

Thanks, all

You can remove the battery when the light is a solid green. Impres will only trickle charge for the last 10 minutes or so of a rapid charge. Leaving the battery in the charger while it's on steady green won't put any more power into the battery

You will get no end to opinions on this. Some will say the initial charge is critical and will "form" the battery. Some will say if it green, pull it out.

You generally can't go wrong in following the manufactures recommendations. If they say 32 hours, you won’t go wrong following their instructions.

Nice thing with IMPRES is you generally can not over charge the battery.

I may have misunderstood.. if it's the initial charge then just leave it on the charger for the full 32 hours. Sure it's a pain, but if there's ever a warranty issue this will be one of the first things /\/\ asks about

Battery Charging

Post by Do-Anything »

I have been working in the Battery business for 22 years now. I'm an Engineer / Six Sigma Black Belt for the largest Battery manufacture in the USA today. I would find it hard to believe that a company would send a Battery out to the customer without Forming it. Forming a Battery can be very dangerous and if a Battery is going to fail, it's at this time that you would see it happen. I would say that the reason they are telling you to charge the battery for the 32 hours, which by the way, is just as long as is needed to form a Automotive battery, is to insure a full charge and,or to follow up the forming process. Batteries are formed, and if they pass the Formation process, then sent to the customer with no follow up charge. Batteries can sometimes set for extended periods of time before they are used for an application. So this said, I would follow the manufactures instructions. But I will tell you now that when the battery is fully charged, your Impres charger will end the process on it's own. So 32 hours or 20 hours what ever, done is done charger off.
Bla, Bla, Bla, man I hate talking bout work. :-?
