XTS-1500 COMPATIBILITY

Post by RFI »

I have a newbee question here although I think I already know the answer but is an xts-1500 operable on a type 2i system? I asked one of the dealers for the best portable he had that would work on our old 2i trunking system and he said the xts-1500 would but having begun programming I don't think it's going to work. Just want to verify before I box this thing back up and ship it off.

Type II talkgroups = go to town
Type I = eek, ain't happening.

I think the GTX & MTX8250 is all that's left you can buy new that is capable of type I.

Get a used MTS or MTX

My mistake on the model number its an xtl1500, which seems like a real nice radio, but the programming reminds me of the time I tried to progrm an lcs2000 for our old 2i system and i couldn't seem to make that happen either. have had an easy time with the mtx 8250s the mcs2000 s were ok till they were discontinued, but I think this one may be a mistake. Probably if we could use anything from the Astro family somebody would have tried selling us one already.I wish we could because it seems like a nicely constructed radio. Not many models left to run on the old systems it seems. Thanks for the comments and advice.Aloha.....

Same scenario unfortunately.

Type I capability has not really been available in a top tier radio in some time. XTL wont be able to do it, unless the system you are loading them on is exclusively utilizing type II talkgroups.

In that scenario you should be ok. If you need type I fleet/subfleet, youll need a GTX mobile used Spectra, Maxtrac, etc, etc.

Nope, not necessarily. Motorola hasn't made any of their digital capable radios able to do Type IIi operation that I'm aware of. Even the LCS series was "SmartNet/SmartZone only", meaning Type II operation only. As was previously stated, the poster needs either a GTX, Spectra, Maxtrac or MCS2000 with the proper flash to get Type IIi operation.
