Post by bayfire300 »

hi everyone,
i am having a weird problem w/ a gm300.........i have it programmed to the freq and pl's i want. but when i key the mic it does send a signal but my portable cant hear it........i see the s meter go up on the portable but no audio, as if the gm300 is not sending the pl tone.......if i take of the pl's on the portable it all works fine..............i tried it w/ a maxtrac and that works like it should. just the gm300 does it

any ideas?

Check your programing again........this is most likely the cause.

Check for PL Inhibit programmed into the accessory connector. If its there, change it to NULL

Are you using DPL? Is it a non-moto portable? If so, try programming it with inverted DPL.

Other than that you'll probably need to look at it on a service monitor.

Well, there is the reference mod adjustment on the RF board, perhaps somebody turned it down. It's the blue pot closest to the front of the radio. The pots usually have a magic marker line on their side from the factory, you can tell they've been adjusted if the mark doesn't line up.

Also the GMs have a problem with the feedthrough connector between the logic and RF boards, see my post here: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.p ... eedthrough
I've never seen it cause the problem you're having, but I suppose it's possible.
