Hello
I have a VHF hi band HT1250, looking to see if anyone knows if it is possible to attach a HAM style radio antenna to it using a BNC connector to increase radio range. I understand the antenna will be pretty long. Any suggestions? Thank you.

- What radios do you own?: XTS2500/5000, XPR7550/5550
I don't see why not; all you'd need is a converter between MX (I think that's what the HT1250 uses?) and BNC. (Obviously, you can't plug the BNC right into the HT1250.)
In theory, there'd be some loss through the adapter, although I don't know know how substantial. (And it's butt-ugly sticking out the top of the radio.)

Actually, you need the GP300 style antenna adapter. If you look closely, you will see that there is a 3.5mm jack at the bottom of the antenna conenctor well.
The proper adapter has a 3.5mm plug machined onto the bottom that seats into that connector.
If you just use an MX style adapter, your antenna will have no ground reference.
You should spend the money and get the Genuine /\/\ original. There are a lot of problems with third party knock-offs that are not machined to the correct specifications. A blown PA will make an extra $5 for the right adapter look downright affordable.
I believe the correct /\/\ part number for the adapter to BNC female is 5880367B23
