Hi all, just got the first Toughbook installed in one of our vehicles, going to install the second one in the other vehicle tomorrow...
Looking for what people have on their computers as far as mobile applications... Have Delorme Topo USA, some weather stuff, WISER, and some other haz-mat goodies too... What else has everybody got?

Okay, mine will be different since I am in law enforcement, but here goes:

-Jail/Prison/Probation webpage

I have others, too, but these are the ones that come up as tabs when I power up. The latest Internet Explorer that I am using has a limit of 8 tabs as home page favorites. You can add more once it is open, but it limits you to 8 up first loading it up. I also assist our county emergency manager for power plant drills and I take the lap-top computer out of the car and bring in to the EOC with me for those drills. One of the best applications during that is one from the State of Minnesota that give us the status on the state EOC and the other two county EOCs that we work with. It also has contact information for staff members at the various EOCs. IT is kind of interesting how the webpages change over the few short years that I have had a mobile computer. Also, the other tools used can impact things. For example, I got a Garmin StreetPilot 2730 GPS last year. I started adding custom POIs (point of interest) recently, thus I am using mapblast.com less and less. If you don't have GPS now, I would suggest that you give it some consideration. Since I am using my own and county IT didn't want one installed on my county computer, I want with an automotive GPS. If I had my way, I would give consideration to a lap-top GPS. With custom POIs it would be great for HAZ-MAT and other situations. Say you get the call to the local refinery for an "unusual occurrence". You get in your vehicle, you select the location that is already loaded in there as a POI. The GPS displays the address as well as other critical details for the facility. It may even have a telephone number for the on-site safety manager. While enroute you call the manager on scene for a size up prior to your arrival. Maybe my example is a little mundane, but I think you get the idea and you probably have other better possible uses in your specific area.
