CDM1550 LS+ No PL when using Accessory Port
I have a radio interconnect I am trying to use with a CDM1550LS+.
Pin 3 is set "external and mic PTT".
When the radio receives a signal to the AUX port it transmits, but does not include the PL. If I pick up the Mic, it includes the PL. I have tried everything I can think of in CPS and do not see any option to adjust this behavior.
Any ideas? thx!

In the accessory configuration screen, the "ext PTT audio source" is probably set to "flat tx audio" or "ext mic & flat tx", instead of just "ext mic audio". Using either of the flat settings disables PL/DPL on tx.

Thanks wavetar. I need to understand those options a little better. I played with those to no end, but obviously didnt get it set just right. I will go back tomorrow and see if that gets me.
On that same note, slightly different issue - I have an LTR Passport group on this radio as well. When it is on the passport group, I hear the data burst and get a COR High every 10 seconds on the external audio, but not on the internal speaker. Is there any option to suppress that as well in the accessory configuration that I am missing?
I have pin 4 set for "PL and CSQ". I receive a COR every time the external speaker chirps.

Check the RX PL enable ground needed at the mic jack.tafische wrote: On that same note, slightly different issue - I have an LTR Passport group on this radio as well. Also the seting for the so-called COR line should be PL or DPL + CSQ should equal RUS receiver unsquelch.
I assume you're picking the RX audio off the pin 11 discriminator tap? If that's the case, in the same accessory configuration screen, you need to set the "rx audio type" to "filtered", not "flat".tafische wrote: On that same note, slightly different issue - I have an LTR Passport group on this radio as well. That is correct, I am pulling the audio from Pin 11. RX is set to filtered.
I am close, except pin 4 is still going high every few seconds from the LTR Passport messages. I have Pin 4 set to "PL and CSQ Detect/Talkgroup Detect".
My external equipment relies on COR, so it is going crazy. Works fine on a conventional frequency.

Hmmm...in the LTR personality screen, "site access" tab, make sure the unmute/mute rule is set to "And unmuting/Or muting".tafische wrote:That is correct, I am pulling the audio from Pin 11. RX is set to filtered.

Also as Will said, make sure the mic 'hook' line is grounded, or that you're using a desk mic, or else it'll ignore the squelch rules.
I can only assume Motorola would know giving a COR output on pin 4 whenever the 10-second 'channel free' data burst is received would be useless. I've never had a need to try it, but would've assumed it would require the radio to receive a valid talkgroup before it triggered the COR. Hopefully setting the muting to what I said above will work...if it doesn't we'll have to start looking at things like your firmware revision.

Thx wavetar - hook rules are working properly - I am sure of that.
I imagine you are right, it is something to do with the unmute/mute. I will go back and research. My big problem is the LTR Passport piece is on the accessory board so it requires another CPS. Unfortuantley these were programmed by a mutual aid agency and I dont have that CPS. Guess it will require another trip over there. I dont think the normal LTR settings have any impact, but we shall see.
This is the first time I have dealt with these Accessory Boards for Passport. It sure is a pain having to go to 2 different CPSes to get this thing to work. Very frustrating.

Ah, I totally overlooked the fact you were talking Passport. That explains some of it, as in the regular CPS, the Passport conventional repeater frequency personalities would be entered in as CSQ.
I think you might be able to use the data muting in the Passport CPS to do what you need. Under 'radio configuration'-->'options' you'll see a "rx mute timer for data". It's normally used for MDC muting, but it should also work to eliminate the unsquelching for the 10-second data burst. Try setting it at the 200ms default & see what happens.
You also have to enable this feature for each desired talkgroup, under "zone and talkgroup data"-->press "edit talkgroups" and check "rx mute for data" for each talkgroup.
Let us know how it goes.

You will need to use one of the option board outputs for your COS line when using a Passport personality which will require you to have the Passport CPS. The real kicker is there is pretty much a different CPS for every version Passport firmware out there. If you tune your radio to one of your Passport channels and go into the Utilities menu under Software and post the firmware version I will tell you which CPS you need.
It is pretty goes like this...
Firmware.......................CPS
06.xx.xx........................R03.02.00 (Old version Passport Baord)
Any 07.xx.xx previous to 07.02.09 will need CPS R04.00.00 or R04.00.01
07.02.09........................R04.03.24
08.00.17........................R05.00.12
If you figure you can get access to the proper Passport CPS I will post the option board inputs and outputs to the list - problem is they are at work and I am at home.
If you are local to Ontario, Canada I might be able to help you even further.

Thanks Guys - I have Firmware 8.00.17 and it was programmed with CPS 04.03.24.
Just got the plug pulled tonight so hopefully I can get to it this weekend and figure it out. I am going to try the data mute first to see if that might work on an off chance.
The problem with setting option board 2 output on pin 4 is that I use both conventional and passport on this radio - so I dont think that would work.
I will keep you posted.

If the radio has R08.00.17 Firmware you will need PPCPS R05.00.12 to read or write to the Passport Board. If you can read / write to this radio with PPCPS R04.03.24 then this radio has R07.02.09 Firmware and not the latest.tafische wrote:Thanks Guys - I have Firmware 8.00.17 and it was programmed with CPS 04.03.24.
You might have to use seperate Pins for the Passport COS and Conventional COS.The problem with setting option board 2 output on pin 4 is that I use both conventional and passport on this radio - so I dont think that would work.
I will keep you posted.
Conventional / LTR COS = PL and CSQ Detect/Talkgroup Detect
Passport COS = Option Board 2 Output
