Got a new Advisor Elite, Password?

Post by kcØkbh »

Hi,
I bought a new Advisor Elite on eBay for $10. I figured,"What the heck, it's cheap." The seller said the back says alltel, but it was never activated. I'm assuming that maybe it was never programmed or something, since it was "never activated". My local /\/\ shop will program all the news/sports/weather capcodes into it for me, along with the local skywarn pager capcode (all on same freq, flex). My question is, did alltel use passwords? If so, what were they?

How many capcodes can be programmed into an Elite?

I have had very good luck bringing the pagers in to the pager shops and having them either tell me the password, or simply reprogramming them to my spec's.

This is closer to back in the day when the pagers were around... Now, I don't know how many "store" fronts exist for their servicing. I would try calling the if lost/found number on the back of the pager, and going from there.

I doubt they'll just tell it to you, but they may offer to deprogram it and remove the password for a nominal fee.

You could also look in to flat rate repair on it, in which case you could specify what new frequency you wanted it on, and they would also retune, and probably remove the password on the pager.
