Massive inventory, need help

[b]I purchased a tractor trailer load of radio equipment and really don't know what I have. I'm learning but need alot of help. I've started selling on ebay under "tscompany" You can look at my closed auctions to get an idea of what I have. Some of the items are Ht1000,MT1000,Sp-50,Maxtrac,Spectra,Control Heads, etc.. I've had the most trouble figuring out what freq range most items are like the Motorola Spectra units. I have 234 of these alone. It says I have to have a cable to check these out. I have 4 pallets of cables alone and want to match the cables with the units to sell them better. There are also a bunch of programming cables, but I can't find any info by the part number. Is there a master list somewhere of part numbers? This would help tremendously! Whats the best way to sell locally? On the mobile units, I have over 500. I have 350 handhelds also. What do I need to do to check the freq on the spectras? Any help appreciated and thanks Joe[/b]

I have mostly model TA9FW+079W, but I don't think I can get the freq by the model#. How do I check it? Thanks

You're actually interested in the ID number, which should begin T74 for those UHF Spectras.

You can run the FCC ID through the FCC's website to get the bandsplit (a UHF radio is available in 4 different bandsplits, but the split isn't reflected in the model #).

rent a service monitor with an autotune function - it will tell you if the transmit side of the radio is working and exactly what freq it is transmitting on - then generate the same freq into the receiver in the hopes it's simplex. If the radio has a display the DIR display will tell you if its simplex.

From the look of your listings you seem to be doing just fine. On the Spectra you either need to read the radio with programming equipt. or open the radio up to find find part#'s on the boards and look these up on the main BatLabs site to determine bandsplit. Or you can pick up a cheapo frequency counter, if RadioShack still carries them i paid under $100. for mine, then you can at least tell what frequencies are in the radios and buyers can make pretty good assumptions on the bandsplits from there. On the Spectra's getting the frequency or bandsplit will be
important to your success on EBay with them as the Gov't. has recently flooded the market with next to useless 403-430 Spectra's and a lot of the EBayers will assume this is what you have unless you can tell them otherwise. Good luck !

On your current auctions, you might want to change the control head auctions to include spectra, as tose heads are for spectra units (also, you spelled control incorrectly)

As for cables, HKN4356 is the most likely one you will find to go with the spectras. If the model# on the spectra units have "A9" in them, you can also put one of the HCN1073* control heads with it in the same auction, as those will go together for a working unit.

eBay will let you sell the sirens just don't list the siren amp and siren speaker together, list seperately. I know, sounds stupid.

I listed a X9000 siren setup a while back and included the speaker, they killed the auction with some excuse about it being a siren for PS use, etc. I then relisted the siren amp and cable and they let that go, then the next week i listed the siren speaker and they let that go also.

One more quicky, I have (35) Syntor XX T74's. I've had several calls wanting to buy the lot, but I really don't know what they are worth. We haven't listed any of these until today so I have no clue. Thanks Joe

Looks like you just need to take some pictures of them and list them here on the for sale board if ebay is going to be an ass about it.

Are the Syntor's complete with control cables and the rotary control heads and speakers, brackets, etc.. Or do you just have the main radio itself, the drawer?

Get the chassis number off of it, if it's a preamp model it's worth more than a non-preamp model. Flip the radio upside down with the handle facing you and look for a white typed label or a black number stamp on the front left corner.

I commend you for not having super-inflated and unrealistic shipping prices unlike most other eBay'ers. Anyone ever see stuff for sale from that "Texas Fat Cats" guy? He always wants like $20 shipping for a speaker/mike and other tiny crap.

We found several boxes full of new parts. They are moslty baggies full of transistors, capacitors, circuit boards etc.. Several hundred pieces. Anyway, how can I find out what they are? Is there a Motorola master parts list online anywhere? There is also a Motorola cloner that I can't find anything on. Also would someone please look at the MTR2000's I have listed under "tscompany" on ebay and tell me if its listed right or I need to reword it. We have 14 tower racks and The model # on the first one is #C45RCB-5103AT/C87ALSP. Other #'s are TLN2018A, TRN8729A. I don't have a clue. Does anyone know what they are and about what they are worth? Thanks Joe

The C45RCB is a Micor 800 mhz repeater, most likley part of a 800 trunking system.

The handset has the connector for the Syntor 9000 radios. It also has the hang-up 'box' with the speaker and HUB disable switches.

This can also be used on Spectra and A7 advanced Maratrac radios.

The Motorola radio in the box in photo 77-3, is a Syntor.

The GE radios are the later Master series with the advanced heads.

Thanks Will, any idea what the Micor repeaters are worth or where I can sell them? I have 14 racks and it looks like there are two on each rack. Why would they have so many in one system? The Micor repeaters are now three models behind the times, are crystal controled (not programable) so I could not tell if they have any value or what value. Circa 1985. From the photos the repeaters look in very good condition. If you look on the chassis you can find date stamps tell the age.

Don't get me wrong, the Micor repeaters are a good radio.

Why so many repeaters on racks? Part of a trunking system which uses multiple frequencies, up to twenty repeaters on one site.

I do from time to time see other countries buying trunking systems, especially the trunking controllers.

Hello, I have several chargers listed and about 10 different ones that I haven't listed yet. I bought a pallet full of chargers and was wondering if there is there a master list of motorola chargers anywhere that I can find out what they work with before I list them? I also have many of these that people are requesting a certain letter (A,B, or C) Are they not all for the same radio? Any help appreciated and thanks Joe

The chargers are the XTS3000's, There are also two different transformers for these? 900 and 800 watt. Anyone know why and how I can find which goes with which

This guy sold me a UHF 110w Spectra w/ leaky caps. If you buy from him, open it as soon as you get it because his 3 day return policy burned me.

Look for separate TX & RX cabling. That should be a dead giveaway. Any duplexing or combining on them would be done outside of the repeater.

Every Spectra has leaky caps or soon to be leaky caps/ That is just a fact of life. Get over it and change the caps yourself.

Changing out the caps is part of our normal PM. In my city we have hundreds of Spectras still in serbice.

My two bits worth:
I am very familiar with trunking 800 MICORS.
The SMR operator that I do work for has dozens of them in storage.
Can't sell them, they are not worth the freight.
(I am in Honolulu)

The factory originally shipped the stations in "Compa" cabinets.
The racking was probably done in the field.
If the racking was done at Schaumburg, the rack would have been shipped in a special crate that holds the rack horizontally.
The power supplies would be crated separately.

If I was shipping this stuff, I would take some digital photos, then remove everything from the racks, break the rack into a bundle (Unless it is welded)
Ship as 50# packages. 7 packages, I think.

Assuming these are trunking stations, there would be a gray cable with spade lugs on one end, D15pin socket on other.
